Business Development - Paid Internship

Sharper Sense is an early stage neurotechnology company spun out of Columbia and Cornell University and backed by multiple venture capital groups including Joyance Partners, SOSV, and ComcastNBC. We are developing neuromodulation technology that enhances users’ sensory acuity. The technology uses noninvasive electrical stimulation to optimize brain state. Many commercial, clinical, and consumer uses. Following positive results in multiple pilot clinical studies, the company is now hiring for new roles supporting design and testing of self-contained neurostimulation patch hardware. 

Open Position: Business Development - Intern
Location:
In-person at our offices in Newark, NJ + remote when possible (hybrid) 
Role: Assist with customer discovery, relationship management, marketing, sales
Skills: Business development expertise, ability to conduct external outreach, comfort interviewing customers
Type: Paid internship. Option for full-time or part-time depending on availability, fit.
Pay: $17 per hour.

We are seeking a student, with education and interest in business development to help Sharper Sense with customer discovery, managing customer relationships, creating marketing strategies, and securing sales  to early adopters. You will be supported by our full-time team that includes an embedded hardware engineer, embedded firmware engineer, biomedical engineer, and a neuroscientist. 

Key Responsibilities
• Customer discovery consisting of outreach and interviews of users within target markets. 
• Help maintain and advance our existing relationships with our defense and professional sports partners.
• Assist in the development and execution of marketing and outreach strategies to create new lead.
• Support our team in their efforts to secure multiple sales contracts for our 2025 product launch.

Required Education and Work Experience 
• Ongoing studies (or degree) in business, marketing, finance, sales, or a related field. 
• Experience with customer discovery, market research, or similar tasks.
• Understanding of customer relationship management (CRM) tools.

• Organized and able to self-manage time and progress across multiple subprojects in parallel.
